Why Does Elderly Skin Smell?
Beginning about the age of 40, human bodies begin to slowly alter the way omega-7 unsaturated fatty acids on the skin are destroyed, resulting in a more youthful appearance. When these acids come into contact with oxygen in the air, a scent is formed that is referred to as ″nonenal″ after the 2-nonenal molecule that is produced during the breakdown process of the acids.
